Facebook and Google have confirmed their participation in a wide-scale net neutrality protest scheduled for July 12th, according to Fortune. The protest is being called the “Internet-wide Day of Action to Save Net Neutrality,” or “Day of Action” and “Battle for the Net” for short. It’s designed to be an illustrative example of the breadth and magnitude of opposition to the Federal Communication Commission’s recent regulatory behavior (or lack thereof) that open internet advocates fear could roll back years of legislative progress, in a fashion similar to the SOPA and PIPA protests of 2012.

तो जायंट जास्त पैसे फेकुन ती यंग स्टार्टअप रस्त्यावर पाउलच ठेवणार नाही याची तजवीज करेल ना. मग जर त्या स्टार्टअपला पहिला श्वासच घेऊ दिला जाणार नसेल तर कसली कॉंपीटीशन आणि कसले व्हिसीज? >> राज हेच होतं अगदी मान्य. रादर स्टार्ट अप कल्चर मधून आलेल्या, डू नॉट डू एव्हिल म्हणणाऱ्या कंपन्याही हेच करतात हे जनरली मान्यच.
पण इंटरनेट असणे, ते फेअर असणे ही बेसिक नीड आहे. वीज, रस्ते इ. सारखीच एक गिव्हन गोष्ट आहे, जे बायस झालं तर मूळ प्रिमाईसच डळमळीत होतं. ज्याप्रकारे मर्जर होताना स्टेट/ फेडरल परवानगी घ्यायला लागते, जेणेकरून मोनोपोली येणार नाही, स्पर्धा राहील या आणि अशा गोष्टी स्टेट बघते. जरी मर्जर करणे हा त्या दोन कंपन्यांनी निर्णय घेतला, त्यांचे पैसे असले तरी काय वाट्टेल ते करून दे असं सरकार करत नाही.

आज गुगल आणि इतर अनेक कंपन्या मला काय रिझल्ट दाखवायचे हे माझ्या, त्यांना आलेल्या अनुभवानुसार स्वतःच ठरवून तेच रिझल्ट पुढे करून दाखवतात. ते ही मला तितकंच घातक आणि भीतीदायक वाटतं. पण ते नेट न्यूट्रॅलिटीत येत नाही, आणि अल्गोरिदम आणि मीच साईन केलेल्या पॉलिसीत ते कव्हर करून माझ्या तोंडावर ती फेकतात. वर नेट न्यूट्रॅलिटीला सपोर्ट ही करतात. हा प्रकार अमरिकी असावा. मोबाइल फुकट हवाय तर एक/दोन वर्षांचा महिना अमुक डॅालरचा प्लान घ्या वगैरे तिथे आहे.
तिथे एक मोबाइल घेऊन फक्त फेसबुक अन इतर चारपाच साइट वापरणारी तरुण पिढी आहे. त्यांना त्या चारपाच घंटा वाजवायच्या असतील तर वाजवू दे.
सर्विस प्रवाइडरचे अनलॅाक्ट फोनसाठी नॅार्मल प्लान असतीलच. ते घ्यावे.
अर्थात हा लेख भारतासाठी नसावा. इथे अनलॅाक्ट फोनच खपतात.

The case is simple: Do you have a 45 Mbps, bi-directional service to your home, paying around $40? Do you have 500+ channels and can choose any competitive service? You paid an estimated $2000 for this product even though you did not receive it and it may never be available. Do you want your money back and the companies held accountable?

Background: Starting in the early 1990's, the Clinton-Gore Administration had aggressive plans to create the "National Infrastructure Initiative" to rewire ALL of America with fiber optic wiring, replacing the 100 year old copper wire. The Bell companies — SBC, Verizon, BellSouth and Qwest, claimed that they would step up to the plate and rewire homes, schools, libraries, government agencies, businesses and hospitals, etc. if they received financial incentives.

The FCC is expected to announce a vote to gut net neutrality rules the day before Thanksgiving. Only a big burst of phone calls to Congress can stop them from allowing ISPs to charge us extra fees to access sites, apps, games, and especially the music we all love.

FCC Chair Ajit Pai is about to announce a vote to slash America's net neutrality rules—meaning companies like Comcast & Verizon will be able to block apps, slow websites, and charge fees to control what you see & do online. Once Pai announces the vote, the situation becomes desperate. But if we flood Congress with phone calls right now, they can stop the vote.

We're getting word that there are lawmakers who are sympathetic to our cause and considering taking action to slow the FCC down, but they won’t act unless they get more phone calls from constituents. Also, if your think your Rep's opposed to net neutrality, its all the more reason to call them. Those Reps need to hear your voice more than anyone.

Dead People Mysteriously Support The FCC's Attack On Net Neutrality

Earlier this year, some reporters discovered that some of the biggest fans of the FCC's myopic assault on net neutrality appear to be dead:

"As the war over the fate of America's free and open internet lumbers on, it appears that opponents of net neutrality will do anything in their power to turn control of the internet over to massive telecom companies—including committing fraud. As detailed in a letter sent to the FCC Thursday morning, people are pissed that their personal information was used without their knowledge to post anti-net neutrality comments to the FCC's website, which includes at least two people who are recently deceased.

The FCC just announced its plan to slash net neutrality rules, allowing ISPs like Verizon to block apps, slow websites, and charge fees to control what you see & do online. They vote December 14th. But if Congress gets enough calls, *they* can stop the FCC.

आमच्या पसंतीचा उमेदवार(मोदी) आणला म्हणून गप्प न बसता, सरकारी नोकर म्हणुन त्याच्याकडुन होणा-या चुकांना(नेट न्युट्रलिटी / आधार कार्ड व इतर) आम्ही तेवढाच विरोध करत आहोत.

तुमच्या नापसंतीचा उमेदवार आला म्हणुन, आता दुस-या विचारसरणीच्या नागरीकांची गंमतच बघतो, असे न म्हणता मुद्द्यावर विरोध व मुद्द्य्यावर पाठींबा असे करणे तुम्हाला जमेल का?

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says President Donald Trump’s plan to roll back net neutrality protections for the internet “does not make sense” and that he’ll be looking into what he can do to defend net neutrality for the whole internet.

“I am very concerned about the attacks on net neutrality,” Trudeau said in Toronto on Wednesday, in response to a question from Motherboard about Trump’s plans. “Net neutrality is something that is essential for small businesses, for consumers, and it is essential to keep the freedom associated with the internet alive.”

FCC Releases Net Neutrality Killing Order, Hopes You're Too Busy Cooking Turkey To Read It

To Ajit Pai's credit (and I'm using that term loosely here), the rules do pretty much everything he promised they would, including rolling back the Title II classification of ISPs as common carriers that gives the FCC its ability to enforce net neutrality. Without that authority, the FCC can't really protect you as giant broadband providers abuse the lack of competition in the last mile (a lack of competition Ajit Pai refuses to acknowledge, much less actually fix). ISPs have been very busy trying to claim that gutting this authority doesn't kill net neutrality protections, though we've already explained at length why that's nonsense.
