बार्सिलोना - व आजुबाजुला काय पहावे?

ह्या गोर्‍यांचं एक बरं आहे; त्यांचे प्लॅन्स बर्‍याSSSच आधी कळवतात!तर पुढील वर्षी (नोव्हेंबर्)ला घातलेली एक समीट बार्सिलोनात होणे आहे आणी मला जाणे आहे!

स्पेनची ही पहिलीच वारी. (तसे लंडन, पार्र्री, इस्तांबुल वेगवेगळे बघून झाले आहेत). ह्यानिमित्ते एकट्याने स्वस्तात मस्त (जमेल तेवढे युरोप) बार्सिलोनाच्या आजुबाजूला फिरायचे आहे. वेळ ७ दिवस (बजेट बघून)!

इथल्या 'भटक्या- विमुक्त' प्रवर्गातील अनुभवी व जाणकार बांधवांकडून मार्गदर्शनाची विनंती.
तिकिट किती दिवस आगवू बुक केल्यास स्वस्त पडेल? विसा स्वतःला करायचा आहे. शाकाहारी(AVML).कुठली एअरलाइन स्वस्त पडेल?

Years ago, when I was backpacking across Western Europe, I was just outside of Barcelona, hiking in the foothills of mount Tibidabo. I was at the end of this path, and I came to a clearing, and there was a lake, very secluded, and there were tall trees all around. It was dead silent. Gorgeous.

Barcelona has the worst crime rate - tourists as well as local residents suffer from petty and not so petty thefts. So PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL. Make sure you have copies of all important documents, do not leave baggage, backpack, camera etc unattended ANYWHERE. I have seen people carry their backpacks in the front.

To see- Sagrada Familia - the Church designed by Gaudi is must see. Advanced reservations are a must. Allow at least 3 hours.
There are other houses that Gaudi built in the heart of the city. Those are worth checking out too.

Picasso Museum is worth a visit.
Old Cathedral is also supposed to be a 'must see' destination - but the. Priests outside objected to our clothes. Buying a 5 Euro scarf from the locals would have made our clothes acceptable, but we chose not too enter at all.

Las Ramblas is supposed to be a great street with stores, restaurants and street performers. We were underwhelmed , disappointed even.

The area along the ocean front with a column commemorating Columbus is nice to hang out.

There are good food options for vegetarians - Pan con tomate and fried peppers are good choices. Some places serve a Spinach and Gabanzo dish which is also delicious. Torta Espanola is a quiche like dish made with potatoes, eggs and onions. Patatas Bravas - boiled potatoes with spicy dressing on top is good too. Some places serve vegetarian Paellas - we didn't try any. You may find Fried Eggpplants with honey , sauted mushrooms and garlic as well.
You can find lots of good bakeries in most parts of the city and the bread is amazing.

If anyone tries to 'help' you with directions, or getting tickets at the subway etc. please do not accept that.

'worst crime rate' च्या सुचनेबद्दल धन्यवाद. मला ह्याबद्दल एवढी कल्पना नव्हती. पण तुमच्या सुचेनेमुळे आता काळजी घेईन.
मागे 'कोस्टा-रिका' ला अश्या वातावरणाचा अनुभव आला होता. आम्ही राहात असलेल्या हॉटेल च्या आजुबाजूस 'ब्लॅक कमांडो' सारखी सिक्युरिटी होती. आणी तिथे कसिनो असल्याने रात्री वातावरण तर अगदी जादुई होउन जायचे! पण मी ते फक्त दुरूनच बघायचो. जवळ जाण्याची हिम्मत (अर्थिक तर) नव्हतीच.

'mount Tibidabo' बद्दल महिती शोधतो.

च्रप्सजी, मला तुम्ही उल्लेखिलेला 'secluded' and 'silent'असाच अनुभव 'लेक न्यासा' (मालावी-आफ्रिका) येथे आला होता. मी जवळपास दिवसभर एकटाच तिथे डुंबत होतो. आमच्या क्लाएंट्चे निवांत ठि़काण होते; त्याची कृपा. एक लहान मालावियन मुलगा त्याची कनाँय सारखी छोटिशी होडी घेउन तासन तास मी गिर्‍हाइक म्हणून मिळतो का ह्याची वाट पाहत होता. पण माझ्या 'वजनाच्या' काळजीने मी ते धाडस केले नाही. शेवटी त्याला सोबत घेउन जेवलो, गप्पा मारल्या (आफ्रिकेत मला ह्याचे नवल वाटले; तुटके फुटके का होइना इंग्रजी कळणारे; छोट्या छोट्या गावातही लहान- मोठे बरेच भेटले!) जेवलो.

'Sagrada Familia ' लिस्ट मध्ये आहेच. आपल्या 'vegetarians' संदर्भातील महिती व शेवटची सुचना अत्यंत महत्त्वाची. पुन्हा एकदा धन्यवाद!

बर्याच कालावधीनंतर पुन्हा इथे आलो!
माझी २०१७ मधील स्पेनची वारी अविस्मरणीय ठरली. पहिल्या भेटीतच स्पेन आवडले. मी बार्सिलोना, माद्रिद, सेव्हिले, ग्रॅनाडा, बार्सिलोना व परत असा प्रवास केला होता.
तिथले ऐतिहासिक ठिकाणे , चर्चेस, बगिचे, फ्लेमेन्को डान्सेस भावले.
परंपरा जपून ठेवावी तर ह्या लोकानी...
सगळेकडे ओसंडून वाहणारा उत्साह (पॅरिसप्रमाणेच) विशेष जाणवला.....
