sahi To the best of my knowledge there is no sure fire way of 'preselecting' the gender before conception. In some cases, where in-vitro-fertilization is used, doctors can do chromosome analysis before implanting the embryos. Very few centers do this and it is typically done to rule out any genetic problems or abnormalities. In normal cases, after conception, other than the ultrasound, there are the amniocentesis and CVS tests that are done somewhere in the first trimester that can tell you the gender of the baby, but there is no way to change it at that point. You can also hear several theories about acidity or pH level of the reproductive tract, position of the couple, lunar cycle conditions and myriad other factors influencing the gender of the baby. But to the best of my knowledge, none of those theories have been proved statistically significant. I have heard some ayurvedic doctors in India claim that the gender can be changed upto end of first trimester by giving the mother some medicines during that time. Ages ago when cell biology and chromosomes and X & Y genes were unknown, this belief would have made sense as the fetus has no distingushibable gender signs until 14-15 weeks in pregnancy. But I have seen people follow this Auurvedic treatment even in this century! I guess the more things change, the more they stay the same :-(

Miocrosort Genetics & IVF Institute based in Fairfax,VA offers the gender selection based on a fact that semen specimen contain 50% X sperms and 50% Y sperms. The chance of acheiving the gender you wish can be greatly increased by increasing either x bearing sperms or Y bearing sperms. Still this is not 100% correct method. More on this at http://www.microsort.net/ another method used in US is Shettles method of gender selection.According to shettles method the chances of conceiving the desired gender is based on the day in your monthly cycle or how close or how far that day is from the ovulation. More information on this site http://www.fertilityfriend.com/Faqs/Gender-Selection-The-Shettles-Method.html But none of these methods are fullproof and I trully do not belive in gender selection. majhya mate ya goshti devane aaplaysathi aadhich tharavun thevalelya asatat
