Here is a suggession.
The link for Last 1|3|7 days should be made inactive.
With this link, the viistors directly go to
any bb without any concern about the subject
matter. They do so by seeing the familiar
names on the messages and hurriedly throw the
response.
This is not based on very scientific observation, however I feel that if one
has to put in some efforts to reach a bb
and scroll down to the last message, one
will try to read more carefully instead of
spurting with comments.
Make it mandatory for the visitors to
navigate to the bb of interest via
tree hierarchy instead of jumping from
one branch to another.

Maayboli is really taking shape gr8 going for all of us...
As gulmohar is taking shape of monthly magazine... my suggestion
1. as madat samiti and swagat samiti...
Can we put up an Editorial Team ? I know this is bit controvertial but non the less I feel
implemented rightly would yeild a divident.
2. Insted Creating just archieves if a permenant template for monthly magzine is created and Pdf magzine is made available for maaybolikars online free and hardcopy(downloadable) with nominal price would be a good idea
3. I support creating maayboli items for sale such as Logo T's, mugs, caps, these monthly magzines and so on so forth... To make maayboli self sustaining these things could help ... ithink
4. I would also suggest independent artist show case jhone to promote established, budding independent artists works which he/she could sale online through maayboli or maayboli simply could charge them for this sale oriented displays.. I am talking about strictly independent private artists and not firms...

1. one of the difficulty I face is having same rule for everybody. If we can do this for ganeshotsav why not other topics? To be fair every new/old member can rightfully request to restore whatever they want.
2. Even if we restore, how long we should keep it. We had kept it for more than 8-9 months, right? We have always maintained there is no gurantee how long something will be kept because of space crunch.
3. Hitguj just can not keep anything forever. Even online publications who have deep pockets don't keep anything foerver however great it is. We have to make "subjective" judgement what to keep and what not to. We have been increasing disk capacity for last 7 years and there is no end to it. There will be always argument why to keep topic "ABC" and why not "XYZ". As you very well know being part of moderator team in the past, we don't cleanup unless it is absolute necessary. But we just can't keep on adding.

I understand the policies, but
1. I wish to make clear that I'm not requesting this restoration as an user "Asami" but as a Sanyojak. I take backup of posts by Asami and be assured that will never request for their copies.
2. I was under impression that events which are "for Hitguj" such as Ganeshotsav and Diwali Ank do not belong to any particular individual but to Hitguj as a entity and therefore, will never be subjected to purge. They will always be attain priority over others. I was totally oblivious about equality you mentioned.
I think such events are symbol for cultural achievements of Hitguj. These are things which make Hitguj what it is. And hence should be considered as "First among Equals."
Again, this is my opinion and it is up to your discretion to decide upon policies for Hitguj and do not wish to interfere with them.

मनोगत या संकेत स्थळावर जसे एखाद्या लेखाला किती वाचणे झाली ( हिट नं.) हे कळते तसे इथे जमवता येउ शकेल का? कित्येक लोक मायबोलिवरील लेख वाचतात परंतु प्रतिक्रिया लिखित स्वरुपात देत नाहीत, त्यामुळे त्या लेखकाला निश्cइत feedback ही समजु शकत नाही. जर इथे मनोगत प्रमाणे हिट नं. ची सोय झाली तर popularity च्या बेस वर असे लिखाण पुनप्रकाशित करावे का? ह्यावर विचार होउ शकेल. Paid content on Hitguj च्या अनुषंगाणे हे लिहित आहे.

Google's Shadow Payroll Is Not Such a Secret Anymore
I believe that Maayboli is already using this feature by showing it towards bottom of every BB. If users are forced to click on the Ads before posting the mesg then would it be beneficial for both users and Maayboli!!! Users will certainly like to support the site if the site is getting paid just by users clicking on the Ads and can earn substantial revenue in order to keep site up and running without asking users to pay for the services.
Just a suggestion....

thanks for thinking about maayboli. Yes Maayboli is adsense partner since last month.
1. Adsense contract specifically prohibits maayboli to ask user support as you have suggested. It is upto each individual.
2. I think A reader should click or visit a site only if they are interested and not because they are made to or just because they want to support. Maayboli can truely grow if maaybolikar, find it is providing them a useful service rather than surviving through charity.
3. In the long term, advertiser will shy away from maayboli if they are just getting clicks but no business. It would be much benefitial if everybody's interest is maintained than just short term money.
4. There are various checks and balances in Google program. For example accidental clicks are not counted. Unless a reader visit a site and spend some time on that site, publisher don't get credit and I think that is right.
5. It may be surprising to many, but there are users who benefit from the ads as they are looking for more information and the services provided. e.g somebody looking for a hotel in city, they find the link and visit the site and see if that helps them in their need.
So how can you help?
6. All I can ask is, if anyway you are looking for a product or service consider the establishment advertising on maayboli. Let them know you saw their advt on maayboli.
7. Please do the same for any marathi, Maharashtra Mandal, Maharashtra related website you visit often. Support their advertisers and that is the long term way to help our marathi community.
8. If you know an establishment where you do business often, please suggest them advertizing on maayboli. Google had made it very cheap and anybody can start advertising as low as $5 or equivalent local currency (including rupee payments). One of the reasons Google program has been sucessfull is because of geographical targetting, right to the county level. So not only people from different countries can see different relevant local ads, but even in same state within US, they see differnt ad. Advertisers have complete control over this So your local indian grocery store owner don't have to worry for getting lot of clicks (and paying for them) from say pakistan
9. Write a review (good or bad) about the product service you have experienced under "My Experience". Or reply to "Looking for". Other maaybolikar directly benefit from that information (either to use it or stay away from it). There are many review sites on web, but they don't have experiences/reviews from indian/Maharashtrian perspective and in effect don't explain if the product/service is good from our point of view. E.g A restaurant in paris may be very well known but if doesn't have enough vegetarian entrees, some marathi people would rather stay away from it.
