yes there are plans to accept payment other than paypal as well as payment in India. Because of the current move I had to focus on moving the site to new server first.

answer is Yes and No.
1. This is an emergency so had no time to find a better solution.
2. The membership fee will be used for more
bandwidth and disk space.
3. Obviously this is not going to be unlimited. From the growth I have seen for last several years I think this will be sufficient and hoping to increase paid membership base as well. If there are no
paid members in future and traffic just keep increasing, we will have drastically cut areas available for free.
4. Ultimately the idea is to make this a self sustaining organization. We will create a voting structure with paid members deciding future directions.

sorry Admin , मधल्या काळातले बरेच message हरवलेत. पण हितगूज चालू आहे हे महत्वाचं. message काय पुन्हा post करता येतील.
BTW बरेच लोक paid BB बद्दल बोलता आहेत. पण त्यांचे BB मला दिसत नाहीत. मला पण Paid BB हवाय पण त्या आधी एकादा बघायला मिळाला असता तर बरं, म्हणून विचारतो.

You said 5 people can come together and sponser a BB...
Thats really good idea..
My suggestion is
1. Barech BB in culture are broadly categorize... and are used by many people
2. Kawita and others are here to stay
So Can you provide a link on the top of those BB's (Like annocements) so that not only 5 but many people who are attached to it can pay.. if they want to for that BB...
See $20 is a good idea for personal BB's But many of us are not inclined for such space...
if you allow a range like $5 to $10 or (Rs. 50 to 300) depending upon ones ability for BB's mention in 1 & 2 will definitely increase the collection... and would not be a burden on the contributor either
It is clear that it is a kind of donation... with no extra benifits... but that will allow people to contribute to maayboli in more meaningful way(khariichaa waaTa) .
After all they will be supporting a BB that they are attached to (emotinally or otherwise)
So is it possible to estimate given BB's maintainance cost based on the trafiic and the space it is taking... And can post its running costs in that BB...
For example
Say kavita BB
1. TRafiic X clicks messages/unit $Y1
2. Archive space Z messages $Y2
3. Post size Q word $y3
---------------------------------------
Total Running cost $(Y1+Y2+Y3)
So that you can limit the archive space Z
and post size Q depending upon the contribution
I am not sure if you can limit the traffic X on a given BB...
As long as people attached with it are contributing to the running cost of that BB it is fine... So the BB's that people not interested in can easly "die out".
Insted of taking an overall estimate and meeting the cost I think that this distributed collection approach will yeild more divident...
There is another approach .... "Buy a Page"( a different approach to Rangiberangi)
i.e when i am posting if i "Buy" this page that posted message,It will remain in the archive with my name on it for a year or specified duration So paid archiving can also lead to the collection...
So that I can prepay amount $X and each time I would like my "important" work to be saved for a year I can just "buy that page" for a year or I can pay at that time a page cost $C.
This clearly will allow important works (according to authors) to remain for wider audiences....
This has advantage that no separate space is neccessary and I can post this page under the current available categories such as poems kawitas discussions with out loosing the relevance.
For the start Where can i pay for the rangiberangi?
