July 05, 2005   Federer Express (hey, I am copyrighting this phrase if not taken). I like the 4th of july weekend coz its the wimbledon finals weekend. There was one memorable final, the all american Agassi vs. Sampras and I would wonder, whom shd I support? I didn't like either of them as their emergance marked the end of Becker- Edburg era and I was still loyal to them. Then, one faithful day, I saw sampras loose to a young swiss dude who almost looked like a 'bin fetewala saradaar' . At first, I thought, sampras was playing at both ends... (I also feel sachin is playing at both ends when he is with sehawag).. but soon realized that 'ye baat kuchh aur hai'. I sort of followed him a little bit after that but he soon faded out. It was hard to ignore him after the 2003 final though. I am big fan ever since and like him even more after the hair cut (or hair cute)! He is 'painfully' perfect. How do u improvise perfection? well, if you see last and this years finals.. you will get your answer. And I wonder, what will he come up with next year? I pity Roddick... who IMHO, really does not have much of a game but service, looked so helpless through out the final. In the last 2-3 games, he just watched the balls passing him... his body language was a mess. July 12, 2005   London Calling Thanks to James Bond for introducing me to London. Then, thanks to Wimbledon for making it my favorite city even though I have never been there. Here sometimes people tell me about how both our countries got independence from the British an I tell them, we still have everything they gave us, you, on the other hand, decided to reverse it. The British are dear to our heart though they exploited us in every possible way. Though they suck up to the Americans and though for last 30 years, they have shown Kashmir not a part of India. The bomb blasts in London last week were a shocker. Not even 24 hrs had passed when the Olympics were awarded to London and I had started making plans of visiting and then this shock. I was relieved to see my cousin from London online and that she and her family were OK. London life went back to normal in about 72 hours. The thing that it did was bring back memories of Mumbai blasts - 12 in a few hours and massive life toll. What does it take to make the westerners realize our suffering for last 20 years? India is always the first one to show sympathies and help anybody. But when it comes to terrorism, we are on our own. We do not need the western world to come to India and crack down terrorists, but what we need is support. Support for our anti terrorist actions. Support to hunt down terrorist camps in Pakistan and launch a massive operation to destroy the back bone of these activities. We are capable. We have the information, intelligence and the resources. We just need the support. Support to help us eliminate possibility of another NY or London or Bombay.

September 03, 2005   So what is it thats making me come to maayboli at midnight and write? a great match ofcourse. I am in danger of seeing myself hoplessly admiring, adoring (and much more) Federer. But, I also realized that I like people who play well against him. So when Fabrice Santoro gives a 'jigarbaaj' performance, it needs a mention. I simply loved the the game they both played. Anything that ruffles Federer's feathers is worth watcing coz it makes him even batter. Fabrice did just that. Watch the rerun if you missed it the first time and by the way, Federer makes tennis look like a walk on the beach... gosh he is good!!!! also, on a totally different note, HAPPY BIRTHDAY PKYAA

March 28, 2006   Why me? सध्या मायबोली access बंद झाल्यामुळे विचार करायला भरपूर वेळ मिळतो. त्यातल्यात्यात गेले कही दिवस काम कमी झ्याल्यामुळे मनात विचारांने थैमान घातलं होतं. आणि विचार एकच. why me? हा प्रश्ण असा सहजा सहजी कधी कोणाला पडत नाही. अगदी काही वाईट झालं तरच. सहज रात्री TV बघतांना मनात विचार चमकून जात नाही why me? खरं तर हा प्रश्णच पूर्णपणे चुकीच आहे. why me? आणि कोणाला विचरतोय? आयुष्यात तीन कोट वेळा ह्या प्रश्ण विचारला तर देव प्रसन्न होउन आकाशवाणी करून उत्तर देणार आहे क? की its you because...... आणि का बरं तो english मध्ये उत्तर देईल? आणि मी तरी का english मध्ये विचारतेय? ह्म्म्म..बेसीकमेच राडा है. पण कितीही राडा असला तरी प्रश्ण काही मनातून जात नाही. म्हणुन मी ह्या पश्णाचा इतीहास जाणून घ्यायच ठरवलं. कट टू 'रामायण' कैकयी रूपी पद्मा खन्ना cardboard च्या कोपमहालात बसली आहे... मनात विचार एकच.. why me? रावणाच्या अशोकबात सीता पण तोच प्रशण विचरतेय... why me? (स्वगत अरे वा! I am in good company ). कट तू 'महाभारत'. श्री कृश्णाचे सारथ्य लाभलेला आणि भावांशी युध्य करू का नये ह्या द्वीधा मनःसथितीत असलेला अर्जुन विचारतोय why me? (स्वगत so far so good. This question has been around for a long time ). कट टू... वैशाली. सोळा वर्षाचा कोवळा राजपुत्र सिद्धार्थ आज प्रथमच त्याच्या राजवाड्याच्या बाहेर पडलाय आणि व्रुधावस्थेतल्या जीर्ण देहाला बघून म्हणतोय... why me? ooops wrong question! तो म्हणतोय why not me? तो म्हणतोय... जगात दुःख का आहे? ह्या यातना का होतायत मानवी शरीराला? ह्याचं उत्तर कोणाकडे आहे? कोण शोधनार ह्याचं मूळ? why not me? द्यानेश्वर मणतायत.. गीतेच द्यान जनसामान्यात कोण पोहचवणार? why not me? शिवाजी महाराज म्हणतायत माझ्या लोकांची गुलामगिरीतून सुटका कोण करणार? why not me? Greatness is only achieved with one word, adding 'not' between why and me!
