Dixy : As I had emailed you earlier, your daughter is US citizen. She will get US Passport immidiately. As a child, she can stay with you till she attains the age of 18 years ( wherever you stay ). Later on, she has an option to stay with you or to return back to USA. If you go back to India, she has to apply for Visa to India and after landing at India, she has to register her name to an egency about her stay in India and this has to be done periodically. I am not sure about the name of that agency ( I think, it is Indian Govt. agency which keeps track of Foreigners visiting India). Her status in India will remain as a Visitor. This will not cause any problem in her education ( Educational Institutions may charge higher fees after looking at her Nationality ). After attaining the age of 18, the child has to visit USA atleast once if she wants to keep US Citizenship. The Bottomline is 'The Child will be US Citizen and will stay in India as a Visitor only'. India do not have Dual-Citizenship. That bill is not yet tabled and approved in Loksabha.

Indian Visa (Valid for 10yrs)
kadhla ahe.
Indian Passport suddha apply karata yeu shakto.
Pan keeping in mind, chances of dual citizenship,
its better to get US Passport now.

samir75, tu ekata jaun karu shakatos. baby cha passport sathi laganaara foto, birth certificate(original) ani SSN card(original) gheun jaa. purvi te copy accept karayache, aata bahutek karat nahit. original goshti submit karavya lagalya tar te nantar parat pathavatat.

balachya passport sathi tu ekta gelas tari chalate. Post office madhye passport form milato. tithech photo kadhayachee pan soy asate. (tyasathee tari balala nyave lagel) balache birth cerificate, mala vatate $50 fee, SSN Card evadhyach goshtee avashayak asatat. kuthalya post office madhye he forms milatat hee choukashee karun jaa. form bharun, itar avashyak tya goshtee sobat jodun post office madhyech form dyayacha. sadharan 2 te 4 athavadyat passport ghari yeto. very simple procedure!

Passport Fee madhye Reguler ani Expediated ase 2 prakar ahet, tula Urgently PP hava asel tarach Expediated Service sathi paise bhar.
Jar tu application sathi ektach janar asashil tar Post Office madhun ajun 1 form tula ghyava lagel, tyavar Mansichi sahi lagel. This form is for authorising you to act on behalf of her.

Me and my husband are on L visa and are planning to go back to India in another 1-2 years. We are expecting a baby and I've some questions regarding the baby's status in India if the baby is born in US.
१. बाळाला भारतीय आणि अमेरीकन दोन्ही नागरिकत्व मिळतिल का?
२. जर आम्ही २ वर्षात परत गेलो तर बाळाची इथली सिटीझनशीप टिकवण्यासाठी काय करावे लागेल?
३. जर भारतात असताना अमेरीकन पासपोर्ट एक्स्पायर झाला तर काय?
तुमच्यापैकी बर्याच लोकांना हे प्रश्ण कधीतरी पडले असतील तर प्लिज कोणी मदत करु शकेल काय?
जर कोणाला या संदर्भाची काही लिंक माहित असेल तर ती पण द्या न प्लिज.

इथलं Birth-Certificate घेऊन बाळाला US passport मिळू शकतो... अगदी लगेच...
भरतीय नागरिकत्वाचे नियम (फक्त बाळासाठी) Clear नाहीत, पण OCI च्या नियमात आत्ता नाही apply करता आले तरी नंतर नक्कीच करता येईल...
२. Birth-Citizenship ही Permanent आहे, त्यासाठी काहीही करावे लागत नाही..
३. भारतात असताना पासपोर्ट संपला, तर Local US Consulate मध्ये नवीन मिळेल... प्रॉब्लेम नाही...

थॅंक्स विनय ताबडतोब उत्तर दिल्याबद्दल. मलाच २-३ दिवस इथे यायला वेळ नाही मिळाला.
but OCI for minor is allowed only when one of the parents has OCI (which won't be applicable to us as we both are indian citizen with US Visa). correct me if I'm wrong.
१. जर आम्ही भारतात परत जाणार आहे तर मग आम्हाला बाळासाठी इंडीयन व्हिसा घ्यावा लागेल का? आणि मग बाळाचे भारतातील स्टेटस व्हिझीटर म्हणूनच राहील काय?
२. जर इंडीयन पासपोर्ट घेतला तर परत पुढे कधी अमेरिकेला यायचे झाल्यास अमेरिकन पासपोर्ट घ्यावा लागेल का? म्हणजे US citizens ला अमेरिकेत शिरायला अमेरिकन पासपोर्ट लागेल का?

अर्थात..
बाळाचा Passport American असला, तर त्याला / तिला भारतीय Visa लागतोच.. तो पाच किंवा दहा वर्षाचा घेता येतो (पासपोर्ट ५ वर्षासाठी Valid असला तरी दहा वर्षांचा व्हिसा घेता येतो.. 180 दिवसांपेक्षा जास्त रहायचे झाल्यास स्थानिक पोलीसांकडे नोंद करावी लागते. लहान बाळाला Problem येऊ नये, पण उगाच नियमात अडकायला नको..
Indian Passport घेतलात, तर Birth-Certificate जीवापाड जपा... नवीन नियमांप्रमाणे US Entry ला passport लागणारच आहे, पण Birth-Certificate मुळे तो मिळविणे सोपं जाईल..
Best-Choice: OCI चे नियम बघून अमेरिकन पासपोर्ट आणि Indian OCI घ्या...
(पण हे सध्याच्या नियमात शक्य दिसत नाही.. तेव्हा बाळ Visitor राहील)

मला अजुन १ प्रश्ण होता तो म्हणजे OCI आणि PIO मध्ये काय फरक आहे आणि OCI ऐवजी PIO घेतले तर काही प्रॉब्लेम्स येऊ शकतात का?

PIO means parents of Indian Origin
If either parent or grandparents of your baby are indian citizens your baby is eligible for PIO card.
This is issued for 15 years
Baby can stay in India continuously for 15 years. but he/she has to register at american consulate after every 180 days if he/she wants to stay in India for more than 180 days.
This is better than visa actually but you wont get it for a new born as u need babys thumb print on the application and new born's thumbprint is not that clear
wait till baby is a year old then apply for PIO. You will get it in a month.
We recently got PIO for our son. He is 2 now.
