When you get your H1 transferred to a new employer, you get a new I-94 with your name, date of birth and name of the new employer etc. Only thing missing on that card is the stamp saying the date till which you can stay in US. On a normal I-94(which everybody gets at the airport at immigration counter), this date is stamped by the immigration officer.
Now, what I understand is, in a case where eventhough new H1 has approved your extension of stay, new I-94 has no date stamped on it and date on your old I-94 expires, then you are leagally out of status.
If it's correct, does anybody know where one can get the I-94 revalidated, reflecting the visa dates on the new H1?
If anybody needs it, the info about how to get H1 revalidated can be found at http://travel.state.gov/hlop.html I got mine stamped withing 3 1/2 weeks.(including postal delivery times).

I checked my revalidated I 94.The valid date is printed on left hand side of I 94,just above petitioner.Hope u will find it.
I want to do revalidation of H1.I have one question.what is the id that we keep with us in the meantime except drivers license.

You can keep a xerox copy of the new H1 petition and one copy of I-94(other is to be attached to the passport, when you send it for revalidation).
BTW, thanks for the info about date stamps on new I-94, I'll check it again today.

On October 25, 2001 the Department of State shut down all mail rooms after anthrax was detected in one mail room facility. All mail in a DOS mail room on October 25 now must be decontaminated. Unfortunately, approximately 300 passports sent in for visa revalidation have been affected by this shut down and impending decontamination . The cases most likely involved are those sent to the St. Louis processing facility on October 17, 18, or 19 and processed in St. Louis on October 22 or 23.
If you believe your case may be involved, contact the Public Inquiry Line at the Visa Office at 202.663.1225. It is an automated line, but there is an option near the end of the message to speak to an officer. The officer will check your name against the list of passports affected. The Visa Office advised if you must travel before the decontamination takes place, you will need a new passport. The Visa Office will issue a letter, upon request to the Public Inquiry Line, describing the situation to be used at a consulate to get a new passport. Visa revalidation will be required abroad.
